Trying to be Good

“No man knows how bad he is till he has tried very hard to be good.” - C.S. Lewis
I came across this quote while reading a daily reflection I subscribe to from David Roper. I find these well worth the daily minute required to read them.
He also quotes Benjamin Franklin after striving to fulfill 13 virtues of his own making - all of which I would also embrace. Franklin soon gave up.
“I was surpris’d to find myself so much fuller of faults than I had imagined.”
This gives me reason to be more patient and gracious not only with myself, but also with others. It also deepens my gratitude to God for his unfailing love and kindness.
